A number of awards were presented to faculty members throughout the night. Dr. Stan Kellar, Designated Institutional Official (DIO) of the Graduate Medical Education program, was presented with honors for excellence in academics and medicine. Erick Messias, MD, MPG, PhD received recognition for his commitment and dedication to the Baptist Health UAMS psychiatric department as inaugural Program Director, presented by both Dr. Kellar and Dr. Prasad Padala, Program Director of Psychiatry.
Additional awards were granted by resident physicians to faculty for their hard work this year , with Dr. Holly Agud, Associate Program Director, receiving the “Outstanding Teacher Award.” Similarly, Dr. Jane Kang, Medical Director of the Baptist Health North Little Rock Behavioral Clinic, was awarded the “Outstanding Mentor Award,” with Dr. Anil Bachu also being recognized with the “Outstanding Scholarship Award.”
Resident physicians in attendance were not forgotten, receiving awards in recognition for many accomplishments, including excellent patient care and scholarly activity. However, the resident award of the evening was presented to second year resident, Dr. Alexander Malati. Dr. Malati received the “UAMS Diamond Award” for his patience and family-centered approach to patient care, presented to him by Dr. Veronica Raney with UAMS. This award is given annually to only one PGY-2 resident physician amongst all programs, deservingly highlighting Dr. Malati as a stand-out resident physician in this area.
With a packed venue, the Baptist Health-UAMS Psychiatry Program looks forward to the gathering of faculty, residents, friends, and family once again in 2025 to celebrate new growth and achievements!
